Darkness Enthralled
Artist Bio/Description: Darkness Enthralled
Darkness engulfed this world early 2004 when like minded musicians Bryan Bansbach (drums), Juan Garola (guitar), Agustin Galena (guitar at the time, later switched to Bass), and Lauren Aguilar (keyboards) came together to create what this world needs most...More Death Metal.
The band started out practicing whereever possible; small rooms, small garages, a barn (that one was a bit weird).
Eventually, the band was able to put together a solid group, by inviting Rhythm guitarist Nico Breidenthal (previously band mates with Bryan in Disillusioned Eternity) and singer Riley McShane (also previously of Disillusioned Eternity and Shadow's Prophecy) to bring to life songs such as As the Candle Burns, Crimson Ashes and Defiling the Tenament (no longer played).
Shortly after...around March 2004, the band played its first show...a house show with several local metal bands. The crowd exploded, and the band knew it was here to stay.
After several shows, the band decided to part ways with their current singer, Riley, due to a busy schedule with didn't allow him to practice with the band as often as necessary.
Darkness started its search for singers, trying out several good choices, but something was missing. Everyone sounded the same, but they were too timid for the band. This was about the time when Kelsey Gomez appeared from the shadows, and put forth more effort into a practice than most put into a show. The band instantly invited Kelsey to stay.
Several great shows followed after, in such venues as Psycho Studios, The Jumping Turtle, and many house shows. In this time period, the songs Essence of Insanity and Lacerations were formed, and recorded along with the first song created by Darkness, As the Candle Burns.
However, the bands first performance at the American Legion Post (great thanks to Animal Corpse!), was also the last performance for Nico, who had decided to part ways with the band due to school.
The rest of the band had started to mold together into a tight-knit group, so it was time to be selective of a new guitarist (although many thoughts were contimplated about staying with just one guitar).
Again, many musicians were tried out, and none really seemed to fit very well. Only after a very straight forward online message from Dalton Rabner (currently keyboards for Shadow's Prophecy) to get the chance to try out.
The band was skeptical at first, Dalton was very skilled in keyboards, but noone had heard his guitar works.
Obviously, the band was blown away at the first practice with Dalton, and immediately decided he needed to stay.
Since then, Darkness has moved into a whole new plane of creation, mixing more melody then ever, with heavier riffs than ever.
We will continue on with our story of Chaos and Destruction, riding from the Shadows of Night and engulfing the world in Darkness...
