Epademik, emcee esq.
Artist Bio/Description: Epademik, emcee esq.
Who is Epademik, emcee esq.? His voice is distinctive,
his fresh swagger is unmatched which makes him stand
out among the hip hop community. His journey into the
world of hip hop music started in the early 1990's by
studying his older brother & legendary pioneers such as
Big Daddy Kane, KRS-1, Too Short & Special Ed to name
a few. After years of tuning his freestyling skills he began
battling other emcees & building a reputation for his
humourous rhymes. As time went on Epademik & his older
brother formed a crew called The Casual Crew. During the
Casual Crew days is when Epademik (J. Manual in those days)
got his feet wet by getting involved in the studio learning
the ins & outs of recording. After three years & two albums
completed the Casual Crew disbanded, forcing Epademik
to contemplate which way to take his career.
At this time is when Epademik decided to take K.O up
on an offer to produce K.O's debut album entitled The Main
Event. Upon completing this project Epademik began
writing songs for his own solo debut album but it wasn't the
right time so Epademik decided to team up with K.O & record
a group album. They formed the group 100 Proof. During
the creative process of this new album entitled Drinkin
Smokin Straight Westcoastin Epademik began networking
with other various artists & producers throughout
Southern California & Arizona. All the while continuing
to build his fan base throughout the U.S. After spending one
& a half years promoting the 100 Proof name & music
through tours, radio & featurings on other established
artists albums Epademik felt it was time for him to pursue
his solo career & put together his debut solo album.
Everyone felt that Epademik was pushing them all aside at
this time. Virtually disappearing from the music scene for about
a year to perfect his debut album. Listen At Your Own Risk
was released the summer of 2004 & was received extremely
well. The lead single Act Like You Know hailed the number
one spot on The Open Mic Show on klbc.org
(Long Beach City College) for six weeks until being retired as
a reigning champ only to be replaced by another Epademik
song entitled What You Want from his next release,
The Third Finger. It looks as if Epademik truly is a rising
star with no signs of fading any time soon.
