Firefly

Firefly is a band formed by San Diego area vocalist, Shelli Frances as an outlet for expression of some of her original musical influences, and also as an opportunity to work with some of the best rock players in San Diego County. As a young musician in Central California, Shelli’s influences were mostly rock, pop, & country. Over the years she expanded her musical tastes and vocal range and ventured into R & B, some jazz & blues, disco & dance music and cultivated a reputation of being one of the most versatile female vocalists, both onstage and in the recording studio, in the San Diego area and beyond. Shelli has recorded in various California studios and in Nashville at Curb Studios and has performed in most of the major area hotels and casino show rooms, convention venues and nightclubs with many S.D. area variety/dance bands for corporate events, private parties, nightclubs and the like. More than 11 years ago, she met Keith Boone & Chris James after relocating to Southern California. They were both in the Carlsbad, Ca. based rock band 34Below at the time (Chris James still is), and a friendship and mutual personal and professional respect was developed. Chris Beall, the drummer from an also popular area rock band, Swerve, was also friends with Keith and Chris, and Shelli had seen him perform back then. They all went on to perform, tour and record in their respective situations of that time. Then, most recently, Shelli had the opportunity to have area keyboardist, Ethan Brown come onboard with her local variety/dance band Paradise Road (check out www.myspace.com/paradiserdband). Ethan is a highly talented, versatile and respected musician/performer in southern Ca. He also currently performs with San Diego based band The Fabulous Pelicans along with the various sub work he does.

In her desire to create an opportunity to work with her favorite rock players, and to express her original roots in rock music, Shelli decided to put together a second band project...and after a meeting-of-the-minds, Firefly was born. Performing a cohesive mix of classic and contemporary rock and rock edged dance music, the band unveiled their show at Valley View Casino in Valley Center, CA on Thursday nights beginning Feb. 7th, 2008.
