The members of Fosforo have known each other since their days playing music together at Van Nuys High School. After travelling their collective and individual journeys through roots music to DJ culture, and back, they teamed up once again in 2002 to start playing what they call "punky reggae jungle" music.
Combining their love of dancehall, drum and bass, bhangra, and afropop with their passion for serious songwriting, they have managed to create a unique and striking sound. Rafi, on lead vocals, sings in English, Spanish, Hebrew, and Arabic, representing the global culture that permeates Fosforo's home town.
To really understand the Fosforo experience you must see them live, where they use an intricate setup of samplers, synths, pedals, and effects to create live drum n bass, dubbed out madness, and lengthy explorations of sound.
