Gone To Oblivion
Artist Bio/Description: Gone To Oblivion
Gone To Oblivion formed in April of 2004, with Chris Bullock (guitar/vocals) and A.J. Fierro (drums) as the original members. Their goal: to write music that would speak to the heart. After months of songwriting, the group found Joan Li, and named her as their lead vocalist that November. 2005 marked a year of significant change for GTO, as luck would have it. Bassist Reigh Harrison and lead guitarist Andrew Allaband, from the hardcore band Violets Are Black, liked what they heard from the trio, and decided to join the band, completing the sound that was missing all along. After recording a 5-song demo that summer, the band started playing live shows, which earned them a spot in the 2005 First Night Battle of the Bands. They played along such bands as Reason 2 Rebel, The Midas Touch, Darkness Enthralled, and Radio Racer. Though they did not place, Gone To Oblivion proved that they are a force to be reckoned with. With influences that pan from Evanescence and Linkin Park, all the way to Atreyu and Asian melodies, Gone To Oblivion has created a sound that no other local group can claim to match. Their progressive rock/metal style has been described as a blend of Evanescence-type vocals, Korn-style guitars, and Linkin Park-style drumming. The band plans to release their first full-length album, Forgotten, this fall.
