In 2007 Jessy Spino and Danielle Maltzman began jamming together and continued writing up until 2008. They compiled their efforts in 2009, and recorded their first E.P. "Short Circuit Start" which was released in 2010. With the groundwork laid they supplemented the band with new members and became a show worthy band. Currently Maria Sweet is engaged in planning a Fall tour

Since becoming a full band Maria Sweet has been touring and gigging the west coast, working on new material, and cut their first album "Tutorial". You can usually catch them playing the southern California circuits. Maria Sweet plans to have a new release this summer. Electro Shock-Folk Pop: As good an explanation as any as It is difficult to accurately describe the musical stylings of Singer/Songwriters Jessica Espinoza & Daniele Maltzman. Harmonized Guitars and Vocals, light synth melodies, the occasional driving rythm, and a variety of accompiaments are to be expected. Their influences include bands like Grizzly Bear, Metric, The Dresdon Dolls, Tegan and Sara, Evanescence, MSI, Cocorosie, Joanna Newsom, Katy Rose, Stars, Amanda Palmer, Broken Social Scene, and more.. Equipment Needs:

Maria Sweet prefers a House PA with two microphones, stands and two 10" monitors. For the foreseeable future we can supply our own small PA if necessary. If we are playing an acoustic set we prefer to have seating as well.
