Music is funny. It's so often that someone will prematurely associate a genre of music with a particular kind of person: The Beatles - must be into LSD; Bob Dylan - must smoke a lot of reefer; Rage Against the Machine - must hate Conservatives. I think people are much more intricate than society allows them to be. This might sound cliche, but I always hear, write what you know. Well, I know Jesus as my personal lord and savior and I also know music that pertains to the folk and rock and roll genres. My album "Weatherall" is my attempt to be able to express God's divinity and my own struggles living as a young Christian through a style of music that I was raised on. Like most people my age, I went through all of the fads (most of them terrible) that contemporary music had to offer: really bad R&B when I was young, "new-school" punk rock through most of high school, and emo and "screamo" after that. The first record I remember ever hearing was Paul Simon's "Graceland." I remember being probably about 2 years old and just getting crazy everytime "You Can Call Me Al" came on. Now that I'm in my early twenties - not yet my mid-twenties - I can see how the music my parents raised me with is beginning to really influence me musically. Also because I'm a Worship Pastor at a local Calvary Chapel, I wanted to use my music as a tool to bring glory to God. I am in no way though meaning for my music to ostracize any type of people. Art is intended to be the expression of the artist. My music is an expression of me. I hope you enjoy it.
