TRIBAL THEORY has established themselves as "One of the most sought after live performing groups" in Southern California. These San Diego natives, with there strong Pacific Island roots, continue to innovate the sound of reggae music. With their original lyrics and upbeat acoustics, Tribal Theory is making their statement clear that they are creating a music genre of their own. They will surely be an exciting addition to your lineup, as the band appeal crosses many genres and include fans of reggae, island reggae, rock, roots, and world.
Genre aside, Tribal Theory is the hottest musical act out of San Diego in quite some time. This talented and impressive group's music is polished and fresh. Tribal Theory takes their Pacific Islander roots and fuses it with reggae, ska, and a little bit of rock to make a sound that's uniquely their own!
The three original members; vocalist Ajay Blount, ukulele player/ vocalist Dom Blas, Guitarist Rich Duenas began as performers in a Polynesian dance group. They picked up their first guitar and ukulele then began jamming in their friends backyards by makeshift bonfires and barbecue pits. Vocalist Ku Hawkins later joined the group along with bassist Mike Paulino, drummer/ vocalist Nico Tuilesu, and keyboardist Paul Bowen. The multi-talented group quickly gained recognition throughout the Southern Californian region and the Tribal Theory vibe has continued to spread across the coast, over to the Hawaiian islands, then inland to Nevada. They have performed alongside other artists such as Barrington Levy, The Wailing Souls, The Green, Ekolu, Collie Buddz, Katchafire, Natural Vibrations, Soja, Mike Pinto; just to name a few.
Tribal Theory is inspired by Bob Marley, Sublime, Steel Pulse, Katchafire, John Legend, Sean Paul, Iration, Rebelution, SDIB, Soja, Island Irie, and their Polynesian culture/ roots.
