Where we came from... Wither began as a struggle against the dark realizations that came with the death of childhood. It was the way in which one group coped with the tendency to become obsessed with life's negativity. They found a certain pride in their sorrow, and when it was okay to be sad, happiness was possible. It was a simple thing, a band, a brotherhood, a shared desire to create something larger than themselves through music. Years of musical soul searching brought these 5 musicians to a sound that takes progressive rock and metal power and combines it with striking melodies and a gothic rock edge. It draws inspiration from such varied bands as A Perfect Circle, Evanescence, Type O Negative, Dead Can Dance, My Dying Bride, The Cure, Pink Floyd and Iron Maiden, but burns with a passion all its own.
After ones first experience with Wither something becomes very clear. These guys want you to forget about the superficial side of life and become immersed in the deeper mysteries of existence and what it means to be human. They're out to create something beyond the mundane. Their interest in the more poetic side of life has not made them pretentious or above it all however. They take their music seriously but find humor in themselves. They are flawed and human, known to smile and laugh both on stage and off. Their songs are ones of loss, redemption, and transformation, and their shows are an intoxicating collage of thoughtful music, energetic showmanship and honest passion with an eye towards the dramatic. Their goal is to take you into their world, with a wistful floating lullaby, a trudging sorrowful ballad or a triumphant piece of energetic rock. They know what they're out to create, a dream given life in a moment and shared by many around a dimly lit stage.
