Wookie Garcia was formed in the Winter of 2007 and is based in Chula Vista. Jason Sumner-LaRussa (drums) also plays in Haywire, while Kyle Ince (guitar and vocals) and Mark Tucker (bass) previously played together in Hatfield Rain. Kyle, Mark, and Brian Sharkey (vocals) once made up three-fifths of the band Usual Suspects, who played throughout the 1990's all over San Diego county.
Wookie Garcia's mission is simple: to write, play and record songs we like, and to seek out others who might like them too.
Our influences range from Tom Waits to Wilco, Springsteen to Richard Thompson and more. Some of our greatest influences have been local ones, particularly the Beat Farmers and the Jacks.
For now, we're gonna play some shows, drink some beer, & have some fun. We are in the process of mixing our first recording which we will be released in 2011.
